SUSTAINABLE AUSTRALIA WINEGROWING
is a program that was established by the Australian Wine Research Institute in order to promote and uphold sustainability within the Australian grape and wine industry. SAW employs a holistic approach to managing, supporting and promoting sustainability, encouraging environmentally friendly practices in wineries and vineyards through the social, environmental and economic factors of a business. The program also fosters a stronger relationship between growers, wineries, and the regions they are located in. Modeled after globally respected practices, such as the United Nations 17 Sustainable Development Goals, SAW continues to not only provide research for the Australian wine industry, but to also provide a meticulous and accurate benchmark system in which clients can assess their own environmental and social footprints.
