Created in 2002 by award-winning designer Emma Gardner, Emma Gardner Design is a leading sustainable rug company in America. Her handmade rugs manufactured in Nepal and Nicaragua, use only wool and silk for their designs. The made-to-order area rugs are all hand-knotted. The company also manufacturers other home goods, such as pillows, throws, and cement tiles – all of which are sustainably produced and handmade. Emma Gardner Design is GoodWeave certified, which helps to ensure surprise inspections occur at their looming factories and keep their looms child-labor-free. Along with inspections of factories, this partnership helps fund the education of former child weavers and maintain progressive work practices.
