is a global nonprofit with voluntary members focused on bringing together stakeholders of the palm oil supply chain to implement international standards for sustainability. Thousands of members worldwide are composed of every part of the supply chain. RSPO operates through consensus to ensure all stakeholders have a voice and share responsibility. The stakeholders include productors, processors, traders, manufacturers, retailers, banks/investors, and environmental or social NGOs. 

Founded in 2004 by members of the World Wildlife Fund, Malaysian Palm Oil Association, Unilever, Aak and Migros, RSPO has developed environmental and social criteria that companies must comply with to produce certified palm oil. These measures will help minimize the negative impact of palm oil production on the local environment, wildlife and communities. Their goal is to advance production and procurement, develop and implement, monitor and evaluate, and engage and commit to sustainable palm oil supply chain products. RSPO defines their motto as “prosperity, people, planet.”
