Iris Hantverk

Iris Hantverk is a Swedish company selling brushes and household tools with a heritage of brush binding manufacturing. With stores in Stockholm and artisans working in Sandsborgsvägen, Sweden, and Estonia, Iris Hantverk employs visually impaired artisans whose work utilizes old Swedish traditions. Dating as far back as 1870, Iris Hantverk has strong ties to Sweden and Estonia’s visually impaired craftsman movement. Focusing on equal access to employment, the movement’s demands and strides are what built the company’s foundation. At Iris Hantverk, bristle materials are sourced from all over the globe with extreme care and precise extraction processes. Varying in elasticity and tautness, bristle materials range from assorted fibers to goat and horsehair. Brushes are then hand-crafted with mostly natural materials and a focus on artisanship and quality. All brushes start out with a piece of wood, undergoing a distinct process wherein every bundle of bristles is pulled and knotted by hand. The company remains focused on precision, excellence, and its commitment to producing sustainable, slow, and sensitively, made-by-hand products.
