Emma Gardner

Created in 2002 by award-winning designer Emma Gardner, emma gardner design is a leading sustainable rug company in the US. Her handmade rugs are manufactured in Nepal and Nicaragua, using only Tibetan or New Zealand wool and Chinese silk for the designs. The company is partnered with a Nepalase mill that incorporates native Nepalese craftsmanship with the latest techniques of carpet-making. The Nepalese government has recognized emma gardner design for their progressive employment practices, earning them multiple awards for excellence.

Gardner collaborates with designers and clients to design the made-to-order, hand-knotted area rugs. The company also manufactures other home goods, such as pillows, throws and cement tiles — all of which are sustainably produced and handmade. Emma gardner design is GoodWeave certified, ensuring that their looms are child-labor free, as surprise inspections frequently occur at their looming factories. Along with factory inspections, this partnership helps fund the education of former child weavers and maintain progressive work practices.
