Emeco

Emeco has led the furniture industry with its environmentally and socially engaged initiatives. Since 1944, the brand has salvaged aluminum and made chairs for the US Navy. Continuing in a sustainable direction, Emeco now recycles scrap plastic from landfills and oceans, using these materials to build durable chairs. Roughly 90% of their entire product range is made from recycled materials such as wood, reclaimed cork, eco-concrete, recycled polyethylene and recycled wood-filled polypropylene. Driven by the philosophy of “making more with less”, they have begun measuring and declaring the carbon footprint of their products in an effort to render their production process entirely transparent to their customers. Emeco measures their carbon footprint “cradle-to-gate” meaning they track the entire lifecycle of their products, from the creation to transportation to packaging and manufacturing.
