Emeco
Emeco is a leader in the environmental and socially engaged sectors of the furniture industry. Since 1944, the brand has salvaged aluminum to make chairs for the U.S. Navy. Now, for sustainability efforts, Emeco recycles scrap plastic from landfills and oceans. Roughly 90% of their products are made from recycled materials, including wood, reclaimed cork, eco-concrete, recycled polyethylene, and recycled wood-filled polypropylene.
Driven by the philosophy of “making more with less” and upholding complete transparency, Emeco has begun measuring and declaring the carbon footprint of each of its products. This measuring process takes place from “cradle-to-gate,” meaning they track the entire lifecycle of their products throughout their supply chain, from the creation to transportation to packaging and manufacturing.
