People Tree is a sustainable Fair Trade fashion brand that began in Tokyo, Japan in 1991. Now based both in Tokyo and London, People Tree actively supports farmers, producers and artisans. They work through 14 producer groups in six countries. People Tree uses Fairtrade Certified Cotton, which is earned through a strict checklist. Farmers are paid a minimum wage for their crop and the cotton growing method undergoes an examination in order to prove it follows environmental regulations. By providing technical assistance to their producers, People Tree helps them to improve their skills, strengthen their businesses and have a postive social impact. People Tree also uses TENCEL™ fiber, which is biodegradable and made of wood pulp gathered from non-controversial, certified sources. To learn more about the brand, click here.
