La Via del Té

Alfredo Carrai was 25 years old when he set out on a journey to bring the tea industry to Italy with La Via del Té. He first envisioned the future company while drinking his first cup of Jasmine Chun Feng tea. Carrai realized that tea was much more than just a beverage and wanted to make natural, healthy tea available to his country.

“I had a feeling there was a lot potential of an Italian tea company that specialized in whole leaf teas. La Via del Tè was the first one in 1961,” Carrai explained.

Carrai began traveling then importing tea and raw materials from production countries, such as China, India, Sri Lanka, and Japan. The tea is then blended, flavored, and packaged in the factory located in Impruneta, near Firenze.

Carrai believes there isn’t a problem a “good cup of tea can’t fix.” He has found success through his own determination and values his parents instilled in him. Now, 53 years later, his five children have taken over the family business.

In the future, he hopes to “expand the awareness of the brand,” and always keep his family and the authenticity of the tea at the center of the company.
