Founded in 2010, Every Mother Counts informs, engages, and mobilizes new audiences to take action to improve the health and well-being of girls and women everywhere.
“Being a mother makes you think about others outside of yourself in a way that I think is unique,” Turlington Burns said in her Citizens of Humanity video.
Working with local mothers in the video’s location of Haiti, Turlington Burns says she is inspired by people she meets every day and those she works with, who all work seek to achieve Every Mother Counts’s shared goal of improving maternal health and reducing maternal mortality worldwide.
In 2010, Turlington Burns documented at-risk pregnant women from around the world in her film “No Woman, No Cry.”
“Turlington [Burns] personifies what this series is about: someone who cares deeply about a cause and works to engage, educate and make a difference in the lives of others, all the while asking us if we might do the same in our own way,” said Amy Williams, President of Citizens of Humanity’s collaboration with philanthropists such as Turlington Burns.
