In January, transformation is on everyone’s mind. We begin the year enthusiastically with New Year’s resolutions to better our lives. But more often than not, we set unrealistic goals. Making small changes in our daily routine instead of setting unattainable expectations of perfection can ultimately transform our lives positively. Unlike the ultimatum of a New Year’s resolution, transformation begins with the desire to learn, to evolve, to change, to grow, and to be vulnerable. Be patient with yourself and take small steps.Transformation takes time.

January begins with New Year’s Day on January 1st. The 21st marks Martin Luther King, Jr. day. We encourage you to take a moment to reflect on Dr. King’s work and consider what you can do to improve the world in his spirit. You could write to your representatives about certain issues, volunteer with a local organization that aligns with his values, or simply spend time with those different than you. Throughout the month, be sure keep the transformative spirit in all aspects of your life. There are so many opportunities every single day to transform your life and those around you, making a better world for all of us.
