The mood of the month this May is Elevate! Spring has finally sprung, the flowers are vibrant and the first warm days beckon us gardeners to head to our local nurseries to visualize our season’s garden design. Planting in my garden terrace always inspires hope and elevates my mood, no matter where my spirit lies. Along with this, the first season’s vegetables at my local farmer’s market motivate me to start eating healthier, to start exercising more and to have an increasingly positive outlook on life.
We can also look forward to Mother’s Day, appreciating and celebrating the women who’ve raised us. And as a mother, I cherish this day and am grateful for my children who mean the world to me. I also cannot help but being moved on Memorial Day by all the sons and daughter who have given their lives in military service in defense of our country.
Both Mother’s Day and Memorial Day are meant to honor people who have made an impact in all our lives, to uplift them and to elevate them in the best way possible. When going through your May, why not take a moment to elevate the important things in your life, including yourself. Spend some time outside in the sun, go to the park with that book just you haven’t gotten around to finishing yet or go out to weekend brunch with friends. Whatever you do, spend May elevating the small things in life to places of importance and, before you know it, you’ll have made the month all the more meaningful.
