A LETTER FROM THE EDITOR
With the days of summer winding down while the temperatures of summer keep going up, August is a fleeting yet listless month. Here at Mood of Living, we encourage you to make something new out of the frenetic plans and oppressive heat that mark the end of the season – to turn the rushing into resting and the lethargy into reflection. We named Peaceful as the mood of the month as a reminder to carve out a space for tranquility and self in the days to come.
Often, peace begets happiness – fitting, as August is also National Happiness Month, with National Happiness Day falling on August 8th. This is the month to spread positivity and to explore what brings you inner peace: give to your local charity, take a yoga class, and read a book that has been languishing on your reading list. Savor the last few days of summer by hosting an evening soirée with close friends and family; consider adding a refreshing touch to the night with Pinch of Yum’s simple balsamic watermelon chicken salad.
Enjoy the little respites and small moments that the weather provides, whether simply sitting outside on the patio with a glass of chilled wine or taking in the smell of newly cut grass. Remember to stay grounded in the present even as you take August to explore your personal definitions of peace.
