IKEA CIRCULAR HUB

Ikea Logo

is a sustainable program that IKEA launched as part of the company’s commitment to reach full circularity by 2030. Originally called Bargain Corner, IKEA’s Circular Hub has since then evolved into a project that provides ex-display products, discontinued furniture pieces and second-hand IKEA products a second chance at life in a new home rather than in a landfill. IKEA’s circular initiative also allows its customers to resell their gently used furniture pieces back to the company, providing more stock for the hub’s inventory while also reducing the amount of waste that is discarded. IKEA’s spare parts program also contributes to the company’s commitment to waste reduction, as this program allows customers to buy spare parts and essential equipment/tools needed to repair a piece of furniture, encouraging owners to repair and maintain their IKEA items rather than toss them. In order to help their customers save time and money, IKEA partners with Hertz 24/7 for the Circular Hub program, allowing customers with smaller cars to engage in the option of hourly van rentals for easier transportation of larger furniture pieces.

By promoting the Circular Hub program, IKEA demonstrates its dedication to recycling, reusing and fixing second-hand products instead of regarding them as discardable waste. This project not only incentivizes customers to participate in more conscious forms of consumerism, but also physically creates a positive impact with the amount of waste it is reducing, creating a healthier environment for both the people and the planet.
