GLOBAL ANIMAL PARTNERSHIP'S 5-STEP PROGRAM (GAP)
is an animal welfare rating system that assesses the health and safety of animals in the farm and during transport. For the Global Animal Partnership, the wellbeing of an animal can be defined through three main factors: health and productivity, natural living and emotional wellbeing. By utilizing these three components of animal wellbeing as a general, comprehensive standard, GAP can then meticulously identify and improve upon problems that they discover in different farms or ranches.
Ranches and farms that undergo the GAP assessment program are assigned one of six labels by the end of their examination, with one being the lowest certification and 5+ being the best welfare certification. The GAP program standards are one of the most trusted and respected sets of guidelines for animal welfare today, as each of their standards undergo research and development, review, collaboration and on-farm field tests before its final approval.
