March 10th marked the end of the 3-day International Restaurant & Food Show (IRFS) at the Javits Center in NYC. Sponsored by New York State Restaurants, IRFS was an event for restaurant industry professionals and those interested in the food business. The expo featured over 500 vendors, showcasing food products and restaurant equipment. In addition, there were educational programs, lecturers, culinary demonstrations, and pastry competitions.
Over 16,000 people attended the event. Most attendees were industry professionals, but also people interested in tasting new cuisines from around the world. Some of the highlights included culinary demonstrations by celebrity chefs Sara Moulton, Anton Testino, and Adin Languille from David Burke and the Women’s Entrepreneur Circle, an event celebrating women in the food industry and supporting their path to success in the business. Additionally, there was the 26th annual US Pastry Competition presented by Paris Gourmet, where 20 up-and-coming pastry chefs competed for the title as Pastry Chef of the Year. This year’s theme was “Diamonds are a Girl’s Best Friend.” Nicoll Notter, a pastry chef at The Cosmopolitan Vegas, was crowned winner.
The Mood of Living team was inspired by the many companies that were introducing, including companies that produce homemade pastas, macaroons, handcrafted chocolates, local grains, and microgreens and edible flowers. It was a great event and we would encourage you to attend next year.
