The EPD program does not certify products or businesses. Rather, EPD serves as a disclosure tool, allowing consumers to make well-informed purchases regarding safety and sustainability. EPD operators also conduct life cycle assessments based on the product’s category rules, certifying the accuracy of a manufacturer’s life cycle reports. A Transparency Summary may also be provided through the EPD.
