CALIFORNIA CERTIFIED ORGANIC FARMERS

California Certified Organic Farms CCOF Logo

is a non-profit program that promotes healthier, organic agricultural initiatives through their certification, advocacy programs, educational workshops and business promotions. The organization aims to achieve a certification program that is easily accessible to any business involved in sustainable agriculture, whether that business is an organic grower, ingredient supplier, livestock producer, packaging company, wholesaler, restaurant, etc. When undergoing the certification process, a business is also required to generate an Organic System Plan (OSP), which incentivizes companies to stay updated on sustainable initiatives that could be implemented. After companies submit an OSP, CCOF inspects the production site and then makes a certification decision. Certifications must be renewed after an annual inspection.

CCOF also demonstrates their dedication to the environment as an active member of community engagement. Every 2% of CCOF’s certification fees are invested into the CCOF Foundation, a program that provides grants to teachers and students, offers financial assistance to organic producers, and develops educational programs for those interested in a career in the organic/agricultural field.
