BREEAM
stands for The Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method. This international program recognizes sustainable buildings and infrastructure projects with the goal of creating a “sustainable built environment.” In order to receive the certification, companies must fulfill environmental standards for buildings, communities & infrastructures pertaining to nine sustainability categories: Energy, Waste, Water, Materials, Health and Wellbeing, Transport, Pollution, Land Use & Ecology, and Management. BREEAM rigorously tests a company’s products against published standards, as well as independently assesses the validation of claims about products and services. Through independent research and collaboration with external experts, BREEAM ensures quality performance of sustainable products and creates qualifications for safer, less costly and more sustainable practices for the construction of buildings and infrastructure.
