A LETTER FROM THE EDITOR
Summer is finally here and the feeling of the season has left us lost for words. Yesterday, I was sitting on my terrace on the Upper West Side in NYC, and just as the clouds parted to allow the sun to shine through, a cool breeze swept through the city, and I was overcome with an indescribable feeling of happiness; the feeling that at that exact moment, time stood still. At Mood of Living, we find June to be a month of wonder, relaxation and happiness. The aroma of lilacs and lilies fills the air and lush, green grass blankets the earth.
It’s no question why we have chosen the month of June to be the mood of happiness, encouraging you to set aside a little time in your week to do what you love: plant a garden, take a long, barefoot walk or roast marshmallows around a bonfire with your closest family and friends. June is also a great time to discover more about yourself and your local environment. Take a trip to your nearby farmer’s market to support local small businesses and find inspiration to cook up something fresh and new! Keep an eye out for sweet corn, poblano peppers, cherries, squash blossoms, basil, arugula and apricots which are all abundant and wildly flavorful this month.
With wedding season in full swing, it’s easy to share in the happiness of family and friends around you. As you join in the moment of making those final vows to beginning a lifelong journey of love, commitment and trust, take the time to reflect on what has made you happiest throughout the years and all of the joy that is still to come. On Father’s Day, flip through an old photo album or simply remember to let the men in your life know how happy you are to have them. Living a life full of love and happiness while taking in the beauty of the season for all its worth may be the happiest gift of all.
